2017 School Supply Drive

I am beside myself. As we often do, we set a high target. I posted our update from today (Wednesday) that was already crazy exciting, that we were $290.00 away from our stretch goal of $8,000.00 and 800 backpacks.

Within MINUTES, Jennifer from Mouse Trap Escape Room in Ybor City messaged me.

Mouse Trap Escape is in! $290 to reach the stretch goal! We have seen how much you all do and the impact on our Tampa Bay community!! Thank you to all the volunteers and donors!

This process has been amazing. Every $10.00 mattered. From friends, family, strangers, players, spouses, local businesses and podcast listeners. It has been humbling, awe-inspiring and just what many of us needed. Especially these kids.

We will be going back and for every $10.00 donation made we will assign a raffle number to you. (so if you donated $100.00 you would get ten) On August 10th, when we are recovering from the work of distributing these backpacks, we will draw 4 random numbers and be awarding:

  • 2 – 8 Person party packs to Mousetrap Escape Room in Ybor City
  • 1 – Autographed Jameis Winston Football
  • 1 – AUtographed Lee Roy Selmon Football
  • 1 – Autographed Mike Evans Football
  • 1 – HP Laptop!

So please, if you feel compelled, click the donate link below and get yourself some more opportunities to win these gifts. Also, please share with like minded folks in your network.

Remember: These raffle prizes did not cost us anything so we are not taking away from the efficacy of the program. They were donated by our friends and partners to encourage more donations. For that, we thank them, and you!

Here we go again! You know that for years we have collected school supplies for local children who lack the very basics required to succeed in the classroom. Due to circumstances beyond their control, ever-shrinking budgets and the realities of life, these kids are often times left without pencils, paper or the backpack to carry any of those items in. Aside from the problem this poses for their work in the classroom, this is a huge issue for these young kid’s emotional state as well. While giving out school supplies a few years ago, we were shocked to see what was absolute joy when we told one young lady that the pencils and erasers we had given her were hers.

This year, through collaboration with some of our amazing partners (Shown Above), we have over 600 backpacks to fill with supplies! In the past, we have had a kick-off party and collected at that event but the calendar has conspired to make that difficult. We are aggressively buying and collecting items from our revised and streamlined list which has been compiled by working with local teachers. This is what a full pack will have:

  • Lined Paper (Wide Ruled)
  • Spiral Notebooks (Wide Ruled)
  • 2 Pocket Folders (WITH prongs / brads)
  • #2 Pencils
  • Erasers
  • Highlighter
  • Glue Stick
  • Dry Erase Markers
  • Scissors
  • Colored Pencils

We believe by being thrifty and crafty we can get a set of all of those items for roughly $10.00 per kid. Since we already have a great backpack waiting for it, we will be able to stuff these packs and deliver before August 10th.

If you are able and willing, please click the donate button below. We will take any amount but would love to know if maybe you could sponsor 1 or more kids. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for supporting our mission!

(NOTE: We have taken down the Amazon order link as shipping cannot be guaranteed at this point. From here out we are shopping local so your donation is even more important now!)

However you chose to help, we appreciate it greatly! Thank you for reading and participating!
