Let’s go camping!

Hello WTB Family! Tomorrow (err, today) marks the beginning of the end of my football sadness. The despair felt at the end of last year and the uncertainty of our football future is now cast aside in exchange for the hope and promise of another 0-0-0 record and, at least in the eyes of everyone outside of Las Vegas, an opportunity to be even with every other team in the league.

We at WTB will be at as many camps as possible as always and will strive to be your eyes and ears on the ground as the new Bucs are run through their paces. We will be watching to see if the murky battle behind the #3 WR gets more clarity. We will be looking to see how the chemistry between our young and charismatic signal caller and his skills is progressing. We will venture across the practice field to see how our bigs are doing working on either side of the line as Mike Smith retools this defense and tries to extract the maximum ability out of the talented but thus far, unrewarded with wins Gerald McCoy, LaVonte Devid and Kwon Alexander.

Our eyes will be peeled as the discipline on the team is evaluated and Coach Koetter’s first camp here in Tampa as the lead dog may give us some insight into the way the season will progress.

Some insight often heard around town from the media and fans:

“It’s just underwear football.”

“None of this matters.”

“Half of these guys won’t be there come opening game.”

“Yay. Free agency. Other people’s trash.”

There are many who minimize the value of looking at camp activity. Most of them have never coached.

This time matters. Watching the approach and the progress matters. Sure, being able to translate that on the field is where the rubber meets the road but if all we did was look at the final product, sports would be truly boring. So for now, I will take pleasure in seeing the team I love get out and play the game I love as I share my observations, opinions and outlook with the people I love.

Keep your eyes peeled to Facebook, Youtube and tune in to our podcast as we will have PILES of info for you in the coming days. If you are out there, holler at me. I am easy to spot. Love to talk Bucs with ya.
